Dustin Johnson escapes with a win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am, his second PGA tour Victory making he and AK the only players under 25 with 2+ wins. He did not have to face either of the final rounds formidable foes - the PGA tour competition and the gnarly weather crashing into the Monterrey coastline.
With wind speeds clocked at better than 60 MPH and driving rain the
golf courses "teeth" are out and it was ready to "play." Yesterday
during the CBS afternoon coverage, Gary McCord and Ian Baker Finch went
out (on the course) to show the home audience, what types of conditions
the players were faced. Between
marking balls that the wind blew away or off the green and McCord hitting driver off of
the 7th tee, flying the green (but not by much) at the 107 yard par 3,
the two battled the elements for a three hole "talent" competition
that Finch ultimately won.
Next Week the tour heads down the coast to Riviera, where "lefty"
(Mickelson) looks to defend his title at the Northern Trust Open, hoping
to put his '09 start behind him and get ready for the Florida Swing and
Masters, come the first week of April.
