In very gutsy fashion, (draining a 48ft putt to win on the third playoff hole) Adam Scott captured his first victory of 2008, (-7) at the EDS Byron Nelson in Dallas. Scott, has 4 top 20's in six events and now ranks 12th in FedEx Cup Points having moved up 80 spots with this win.
He has been much of the talk centered around players who have been a
disappointment up to this point. If this early season stretch is any
indication of future performance look for Adam Scott to start playing more
consistently and remaining a contender as the Majors season heats up. Historically Scott has peaked during May-July and with the strength of his finishes in his first six events he is poised to begin another run to win his first Major, having won the so-called 5th Major, The Players Championship - TPC Sawgrass in 2004.
Scott, in his performance this past weekend proved something very vital to his ability to contend the rest of the year. He, having shot a +1( 71) let Ryan Moore back in the tournament by bogieing the first and doubling the par 3, 5th, however, in grinding, finish the job fashion Scott birdied the last to force the playoff and then with steely determination went out and closed the door with a 48 ft putt on the third playoff hole, after driving his ball in the right fairway bunker. Scott heads to teh TPC this week where the field is as strong as any minus teh worlds No. 1 player, Tiger Woods who is stilll rehabbing from knee surgery less than two weeks ago.
