Are The Roars Coming Back Anytime Soon?
Written by Bryan Spitzer
Thursday, 24 April 2008
At the most definable golfing venue two things have been missing the past few years, the roars and the "Sunday Charge".  In this years edition of the Masters the 15th "firethorn"  known for sparking drama (Nicklaus in '86, Sarazen in '35 and a host of others had their dreams realized and dashed by the pond and false front) yielded one eagle all week, Woods chip-in  on Thursday, from behind the green.

apr16_weekley_299x305.jpgBoo Weekley successfully defended his title at the Verizon Heritage this past weekend, joining the exclusive company of Payne Stewart, Davis Love III and the only players to do so.  Weekely, since him emergence on the national stage this time last year has made major headlines and has also proven he can compete and win on the toughest courses on tour.  Thus far, on the season he has amassed one win, 4 top tens and in the 10-12 cuts he has made finished no worse than 30th.  Boo ranks better than avg in all of the  Key stats (pgatour.com), except putting and among the top ten in driving, winnings and FedEx Cup Points.

Do Jack and Tiger Stand Alone?
Written by Bryan Spitzer
Monday, 14 April 2008
Many people say to me they wish Tiger had a consistent "challenger" to his domination as Jack had Arnie and Gary.  I usually would reply yes that would make it more interesting and certainly provide drama, like the kind we witnessed this past weekend at Augusta.  Having thought about it for a bit though, i began to wonder with the number of Major wins and years played together in the peaks of each of their careers, did Jack really have a consistent contender in Jack and Arnie or do we just see it that way now as they have gone down as three of the greatest to ever play the game.

How good was +1:
Last years Masters was only the third time Zach Johnson had been in the field at Augusta.  In previous two attempts he amassed one cut 32nd place (2006) where he finished 12 shots behind the winner (Phil Mickelson).  Discuss Topic (0)

La Jolla Dominance
Written by Bryan Spitzer
Friday, 11 January 2008
Not that there are any guarantees in sports and that could be no truer of major championship golf, where dominance is arguably the first or second toughest feat in all of modern sport.  All that said, this years US Open at Torrey Pines might be the biggest home field advantage if one ever existed.  Woods has competed in the Buick Invitational at Torrey since 1998 and in that span has five wins and five top 10's (four top 5's) and in nine days is looking for three peat at the Buick coming off his win a few weeks backat the Target World Championship Discuss Topic (0)

Season Wrap Up
Written by Bryan Spitzer
Tuesday, 18 September 2007
After a bit of a hieatus, we wanted to feel like a top touring pro taking a few weeks off to recharge the batteries and competitve juices, we are back with more material and even more intriguing stories/articles/reviews. i personally will be publishing a two part series evaluating Tiger Woods career thus far, comparing his butch swing to his haney swing.

This summer as was evident at the Tour Championship, was very tough for many courses around the country and here in st louis.  I feel in some ways we were lucky, most of the greens did not burn out as we had two powerful 48+ hours rainfalls some thirty days apart, however while not losing the greens putting became something of a challenge a kin to rolling the ball at the muni, mowed three times a week.  Discuss Topic (0)

Brandt Who?
Written by Bryan Spitzer
Monday, 20 August 2007

The top player in the field was the eventual winner at the Wyndham Championship and somehow thats surprises everyone.  Brandt Snedeker who had been knocking on the door all year playing very consistent golf breaks through in week 33 to secure a 9 seed headed into the playoffs.  Of the key stats used on tour Snedeker ranks no worse than 80th in any category other than those related to driving distance and eagles (due to a lack of driving distance).  Through last week Snedeker had ammased 6 Top Ten's (1 3rd), 12 Top 25's and over 1.6 million in earnings.  With this win, he became the 10th first time winner this year on the PGA tour and the 2nd Nationwide Rookie to capture a title in 2007.  Snedeker now heads into the Barclays a mere 3,500 points behind Woods and looking to imporve his position moving into the 120 man field at the Duetche Bank.

Dissent in the Mickelson Camp
Written by Bryan Spitzer
Friday, 10 August 2007

As seen on PGA.com’s live feed of Phil’s second round, Craig Sager caught up with Phil Mickelson Sr. who had a couple of interesting comments to make in regards to his son’s wrist.  He stated that Phil and so have many others in the golfing world have said the wrist appears to be fine.  Phil Sr. eludes that the doctors would disagree.  According to his father’s conversation with the doctor Phil should, at this time, have his hand in a cast for three weeks and then another brace for three weeks following that, all the while NOT playing golf.  Chances of that taking place and he missing the first ever FEDEX Cup, NOT GONNA HAPPEN!
So over the next few weeks we will in fact learn if Phil’s wrist is affecting his game and keeping him out of the trophy ceremony.
