Wednesday, 30 July 2008 Round Information Tee: blackWeather: Partly Cloudy Round Cost: 30.00 General Review Pros: - course condition- great beginner course - reachable par 5's (GREAT EAGLE OPPS) Cons: - design - slow greens - few of the holes are crammed in toward the middle of the back nine. Overall Thoughts: Golf Club of Wentzville is a great track to get your game back on track or to take a beginner out, just learning the game. Some of the holes require precisely driven tee shots to make the corner or setup for the easy angle but for the best part you can bomb the ball, offline and get away with it. Saturday, 26 July 2008 Round Information Tee: BlackRating: 73 Weather: Sunny Round Cost: 90.00 General Review Pros: - course condition, plush zoysia fairways- surroundings, nature preserve - smart, modern design - great use of the land and elements Cons: - green complexes get a bit over-played by the afternoon, excessive number of ball marks - all three front nine par 3's generally played with the same club. Overall Thoughts: The Missouri Bluffs Golf Club is carved out of the banks of the river bluff and is frequented by deer, eagles and many other forms of wildlife. The course has many holes that funnel or contain collection areas in the landing areas of the fairway. The green complexes are large and generally slope from back to front with well placed bunkers capturing off line approaches, The Bluffs is a must play in the St. Louis Area and is also one of the busiest courses, as well. So relax, enjoy you're surroundings and get lost amongst the old growth forest. What do you usually shoot for 18 holes?: Under 80
Friday, 25 July 2008 Round Information Tee: BlackWeather: Partly Cloudy Round Cost: 40.00 General Review Pros: - fun driver/wedge course- great beginner course with little trouble off the tee - widest fairways in the area Cons: - no challenge or shot shaping capability required - green complex conditioning - power lines near the tee boxes and ideal flight path for a couple of drives. Overall Thoughts: Dardenne is a ful local track to help boost your confidence and also makes for a great scramble course as there are numerous risk/reward drives and reachable par 4's. This course is never too crowded and the staff is always courteous and helpful. What do you usually shoot for 18 holes?: Under 80
Friday, 25 July 2008 Round Information Tee: ChampionshipRating: 75 Weather: Sunny Round Cost: 65.00 General Review Pros: - Bentgrass, need i say more. always a fair lie and crisper off the face.- good links layout in the middle of the Midwest, very well designed to allow for the wind to play a factor, always - St. Louis skyline as a back drop where even the arch sticks out as a start line for the long par 5, third hole Cons: - a bit unfair when the prevailing winds howl on dry , partly cloudy afternoons. - green and collar firmness, some of the hole designs do not allow for a bump and run. - overall nks feel lost sight of for a few holes on the back nine. Overall Thoughts: Gateway is another of the handful in St. Louis i will routinely play just because the round is always enjoyable , even when the conditions are not. The wind always plays a factor and allow you to show off your ball control and shot shaping skills another must play in St. Louis, just minutes from downtown What do you usually shoot for 18 holes?: Under 80 Last updated: Friday, 25 July 2008
Friday, 25 July 2008 Round Information Tee: BlackRating: 74 Weather: Partly Cloudy Round Cost: 44.50 General Review Pros: - Nicklaus design, the course fits the lay of the land very well.- well contoured, placed bunkers - green complexes make you play a variety of shots - tough par 3's - favors a cut approach player, like jack Cons: - location, a bit of a drive - a bit difficult for high handicappers due to the undulation on the course, as well as, greens. Overall Thoughts: Stonewolf is one my favorite tracks in the area. if you're looking for a test for every club in your bag this course is more than up to the challenge. You have to think your way around and place appraoch shots on the correct levels/areas of the green complexes. The course is also the only Public Nicklaus Signature design in the Greater St. Louis Area and a fore sure must play to hone your shot making and putting What do you usually shoot for 18 holes?: Under 80
Wednesday, 23 July 2008 Round Information Tee: BackRating: 73 Weather: Windy Round Cost: 40.00 General Review Pros: -layout, 6+ big drive holes, a good number of strategy drives, as well- great start lines for most tee shots - tough, longer par 3's - the wind is always up, creating the necessity to hold the ball against the breeze to keep it in play. Cons: - course conditioning around prime approach areas - lack of yardage markers, on course - practice facilities, huge hill on the driving range, difficult to gauge true yardage during warm up. Overall Thoughts: Pevely Farms is one of those spots you come back to ever so often because you always know the green complexes will be fast and firm, the bunkering and sand will be consistent and even when you do not core/shoot well you will have fun meandering through the valleys and rolling hills of Western St. Louis County. Wednesday, 23 July 2008 Round Information Tee: BlueRound Cost: 150.00 General Review Pros: - firm fairways- views, backdrops - tee shots, makes you work the ball to be in good position for the next shot - fair from all teeing grounds, the course plays much wider and easier from the forward two tees. Cons: unrealistic distances, be sure you hit the range hard before playing here, I cant remember the last time I hit a 3 wood 300 yards. Know your distances on approaches as the Ross, Jones greens are unforgiving to wayward shots. Overall Thoughts: I played all three courses during my ten days at the Broadmoor, but had to tee it up three times on the East Course, which is far and away the best "test" Colorado has to offer. The West and Mountain courses are both extremely breathtaking with mountain and lake backdrops, elevated tees and extreme pitches around every corner. The broadmoor is a must do for every golf enthusiast. For those with girlfriends/wives that don't play the spa and shops are one of a kind and within the village/clubhouse. I would also highly recommended the French onion soup, absolutely the best I've ever tasted. What do you usually shoot for 18 holes?: Under 80 Results 1 - 10 of 25 |
