From the website:

Gateway National offers you the rare opportunity to return to the rich traditions of the game. Rolling links, separated by gentle mounds, meander through lush, green pasturelands. Tall grasses, lakes, wood-tie bunkers, and occasional giant cottonwoods complete the landscape. In view of the magnificent Gateway Arch, you will cross occasional stone bridges, glide on raised boardwalks through quiet wetlands, and enjoy play on the only public course, bent grass fairways within hundreds of miles. Laid out through native grasses, it's easy to forget you are just minutes away from the action in downtown St. Louis, and not tucked away deep in the Scottish Highlands.

General Review
Pros: - Bentgrass, need i say more. always a fair lie and crisper off the face.
- good links layout in the middle of the Midwest, very well designed to allow for the wind to play a factor, always
- St. Louis skyline as a back drop where even the arch sticks out as a start line for the long par 5, third hole

Cons: - a bit unfair when the prevailing winds howl on dry , partly cloudy afternoons.
- green and collar firmness, some of the hole designs do not allow for a bump and run.
- overall nks feel lost sight of for a few holes on the back nine.

Overall Thoughts: Gateway is another of the handful in St. Louis i will routinely play just because the round is always enjoyable , even when the conditions are not. The wind always plays a factor and allow you to show off your ball control and shot shaping skills another must play in St. Louis, just minutes from downtown
What do you usually shoot for 18 holes?: Under 80

General Review
Pros: -Bentgrass...a rarity in St. Louis even among private courses.
-The course really plays well for the prevailing winds. It's very intelligently laid out.
-Being Bentgrass, it's always green when all other public courses are long since dormant.

Cons: -location is somewhat remote, but still convienent from downtown St. Louis.
-Can play brutally tough, especially when the greens are short and hard.

Overall Thoughts: This is my second favorite public course in St. Louis, behind only Annbriar. It's always a joy to play here and I try to make it out at least 4 times a year. Especially if you're close to downtown, this should be your first choice.
What do you usually shoot for 18 holes?: 80-90
